Bexar County, TX will launch a completely bookless public library system this fall called BiblioTech.
These libraries will initially offer access to 10,000 ebook titles and Nook Touch readers, which patrons may check out. As Engadget points out, big publishers like Penguin are still haggling with libraries over ebook lending terms. This could limit the number and selection of titles available to ebook borrowers.
To skeptics of this new project, Bexar County Judge Nelson Wolff points out that libraries provide access not only to books but also to technology and other services that people with less purchasing power may not get at home or at school.
